The history of the place
Roumont today...

The preservation of heritage and the transmission of family traditions remain a priority for the younger generation of the Coppée family. The château remains a family center, alive with weddings and baptisms. Hunts continue to punctuate the seasons. For the outbuildings, located in the heart of the hamlet of Roumont Castle, a new vocation is emerging: the restoration of the premises allows guests to be welcomed within its walls steeped in history. Things change… not as much as it seems!
As part of the 2008 Heritage Days, a very well-documented exhibition presented life in the outbuildings of the Château de Roumont (Ochamps) at the time of Evence III, "builder" of the estate belonging to the Coppée family. To delve into this slice of history, the organizers consulted the family archives and collected interesting testimonies from former staff members or their descendants. Many visitors to the exhibition recalled the past with emotion. This event deserved a written extension.
Roumont yesterday...

A domain for Ludmilla
Evence II purchased Roumont in 1885. The estate reminded his young wife, Ludmilla, of her native Germany. It was then a 100-hectare property with a beautiful castle and a farm. The family grew and business was booming! While Evence II fell in love with Roumont, it was Evence III who transformed it into a sumptuous estate.
